Brendan is a graduate of DCU, holding a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance and an MBS in Accounting. He also holds a Higher Diploma in Education (from MU) and an MA in Traditional Music Performance (from UL). He completed the ACCA professional exams in 2000.
Brendan has been a full-time member of academic staff in AIT since 1999, although currently on career break. His lecturing experience spans the range of accounting subjects and levels. He specialises in IFRS Financial Accounting, which he has taught from introductory to professional ACCA and CAI levels.
He was Programme Co-ordinator for the MA in Accounting from 2010 to 2012.
He acted as Head of Department of Accounting and Business Computing for 3½ years from 2012-2016 before stepping back into a teaching role.
In his spare time, he volunteers as director of Midland Amenity Park, Moate, Co. Westmeath; CCE Moate; Moate Heritage Company CLG; and SAME-Cambodia. He chairs the Board of Management of An Grianán National School, Mount Temple, Moate. He is a member of the traditional Céilí Band “Rise the Dust”, with which he plays button accordion, has recorded 2 CDs and continues to perform extensively.
